Marco Aponte and Sayde Brugès

Masters of Fine Arts and Colombian kite flyers, Marco Aponte and Sayde Brugès create a  perfect team that eventually took the name MAXIMUS KITE acrobatic family team. Their world in kiting began by a coincidence when about 10 years ago a friend, noted Marco’s interest for painting on large spaces put him as challenge an irregularly shaped piece of fabric with wooden structures. Without knowing what it was, when Marco finished painting it, he saw that the fabric structure flew and realized there was another way to see the kites. An explosion of imagination went off and the perfect canvas e to express different emotions and feelings was found. From then on Marco has not stopped piloting, designing, building, and painting different types of kites; employing different types of fabric: tyveck, taffeta, cambre, and ripstop. After many years of experimenting with successes and mistakes with paint, Marco found in watercolor techniques the best material for the results  he expected of the pigment and fabric fusion: where acrylic paints and synthetic solvents make his paintings the visual alternative that in an impressionist way plays with the distance, color, and theme, elements of great visual attractiveness forming the aerial gallery.

On the other hand, the research that has developed around the pre-Columbian and ethnic roots through the Colombian pictorial structures, meant to propose alternatives that strengthen the dissemination of these cultures throughout the world, applying the history of art and various elements of expression graph; this work took into account the urgent need to articulate (Hobbie and the professional career) showing our Latin American reality with a pedagogical commitment, with the aim of spreading to a socio-historical transformation of the vision of Colombia before the world. The interventions of each work depend on the size and type of kyte, it faces depending on the events in which it is required to be presented, some kytes require an average of two months for their complexity in construction, others only two or three days; It is necessary that the area be of large format to explore the iconography in an imposing way in which at a distance of about 30 to 60 meters does not generate distortion of the ideas and therefore the images

You can not express all the experiences and emotions in such short words, it only remains to invite them to take up that game that involved us as a family as children, in which the fantasy of the kites was unlimited, allowing the sky to paint colors and shapes with everyday elements awakening the imagination; now it is called hobbie and it returns us to that childhood full of bigger adventures and creative encounters of great formats and new explorations.
