The SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival has seen almost every weather possibility in the past. The festival will always go on, rain or shine, windy or still! In the event that weather is too fierce for the safety of the patrons the field will be evacuated. However, the festival will always remain open from 10am-5pm on both the Saturday and Sunday of Windscape.
As with most festivals with large crowds and many children, we encourage you to leave your dog at home.
Smoking is not permitted within 15 feet of any of the activity tents or any non-smoking patron of the festival.
Parking is in the north end of the festival field and there are parking attendants to direct you into the closest available space. There are two entrances to the parking lot, along Marston St and along 11th Ave SW. Parking greeters will direct cars to the entrance with the shortest wait time upon your arrival. All patrons must park in the parking lot provided and vehicles that are parked on the closed roads will be removed. Parking spots for those with mobility issues are marked and are closest to the newly paved walkway.
Vehicles are not allowed up at the tents on the festival site. Please do not drive up the newly paved walkway. There is a shuttle stop at the bottom of the hill to take patrons up to the festival site for free.
A newly paved walkway was installed by the City of Swift Current in 2021. This paved path runs from the corner of 11th Ave SW & Marston Street up to the main festival tents. It runs right past our shuttle stop for those wishing to catch a ride up to or back from the main festival site.
We have a free shuttle from our parking lot (look for the Shuttle Stop sign!) up the hill to the main festival site and back down. Please catch a ride if you need!
Admission to Windscape Kite Festival is FREE thanks to the generous donation of SaskPower and other contributions from funders and sponsors.
While watching the world-class kiting is free, there are costs for the children’s activities, food & drink, and don’t forget to stop at our pro & merch shop!

There is an ATM on site, located in the main tent.
Windscape can see all kinds of weather over the span of two days. Be prepared for, sun, rain, wind, hot and cold. Have with you sunscreen, bug spray, an umbrella, a lawn chair to sit and enjoy the kites, and dress in layers. There is food, drinks, and snacks on site, but you are welcome to bring your own, especially a refillable water bottle.
The SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival is equipped to meet the needs of your sweet tooth as well as providing a variety of food trucks. In the main rest tent there is a full Ice Cream Shop offering popsicles, chocolate coated ice cream bars, and fudge ice cream bars. There are also assorted candy bags and more popcorn than you can eat, all available for purchase. Keep an eye out for our Ice Cream Bike that roams about the festival grounds offering cool treats to those in need.
Please bring your entire family and enjoy a picnic at the festival. Outside food is welcome.
Everyone is invited to fly kites at our festival. We offer a large open field for the public to use at the very south end of the festival. All kinds of kites are welcome, except fighter kites with mania line. Kites are available for purchase or to build in the Children’s Tent.
Please be courteous to other kite flyers and apologize when you cross their lines. Watch your kite at all times. Wear gloves if your kite is large or the winds are strong. Wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Don’t let your kite fly above people on the ground, especially if it is a stunt kite or a fighter. They are very fast and difficult to control. They can hit people before they have a chance to get out of the way.
The SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival is the best place to purchase your brand new kite. With kite instructors onsite, everyone can become a kiting expert. The Kite Store is located in the Children’s Tent and has kites available for purchase ranging from $10 to $90, depending on style and size. Helpful volunteers will be able to assist you in finding the right kite for you and your family to get started.
